Many people describe themselves as "computer illiterate" and need lots of help. Others are self-taught and want to sharpen and improve their skills. Most often it is easy to answer a long list of questions and do hands on training one on one. If you would like to know what we can do for you, please don't hesitate to contact us.
Children ages 7-12 are invited to discover what makes a computer work. Participants learn the functions of the hardware inside a computer. They learn about safety and will handle each part as it is discussed. They also learn about input and output. 45 minutes
Children's Class 2 "Let's Build a Computer!" $10
Adding to what was learned in Class 1, we will build a working computer from scratch. Specific functions of computer hardware are reviewed, and safety and basic maintenance are also covered. 45 minutes
Children's Class 3 "Web Design for Kids!" $10
Basic web design skills are taught in a fun, easy to understand way. Participants will learn to design their own web page from raw HTML code and can view it in a web browser while offline. Following the class - with parental permission - it will then be posted to the Internet to show it off to family and friends. 60 minutes
Children's Classes 1 & 2 Combined $20
Classes 1 and 2 are taught back to back for those wanting to cover it all at once. 90 minutes
"Family History Basics" $15
This class covers many of the same topics as the Computer Basics 1 & 2, but with an emphasis on using the computer for family history research and recordkeeping. In addition to understanding Windows better, participants will learn how to better utilize the PAF program and to manage their history without fear. This is a 2-for-1 class so that married couples or parent-child couples can learn the skills together for one low price.
"Computer Basics 1" $15
Participants will be taught computer basics in the Windows operating system. Topics covered include how to manage Windows functions and features including saving, moving, and renaming files, Internet basics, printing tips, managing other programs with Windows, and back-up procedures. The class will follow the interest and specific needs of the participants, so bring your list of questions!
"Computer Basics 2" $15
Participants will be taught more computer basics. They will learn how to change Windows settings (without fear!) to maximize how the computer behaves and save time and frustration. Topics cover helpful tips to reduce eye fatigue, change the look of various screens, use pictures as backgrounds and screen savers, find "lost" files, and manage disk space. Bring your questions!
"Internet Survival" $15
Learn about Internet safety, including virus protection, spyware, and internet content filtering. Participants will be taught shortcuts and tips to get around in the World Wide Web in an efficient manner, saving time and money. Techniques are also taught that will help to make web searches find the right thing the first time. Parents will find that this class catches them up to where their teenager already is!
